Artist Statement

Skateboarding in New York is very vast and diverse in locations many being very unique to the city itself. New York skaters are very creative and often find their own spaces which they turn into perfect runs. These spaces are areas where skaters of many ages come to socialize with their friends, watch other skaters, escape from their stressors in life, and even simply zone out and try to pull of their most creative tricks. The environments interact with that greatly from the smooth tiled ground of Burough Hall to the makeshift obstacles of Tompkins skaters learn to develop different things in different spaces. This is an ever growing project which forms a sort of find it map that takes the site visitor on a tour of New York Skating.
